Don't Be Afraid of The Weights

Doing cardiovascular exercise after weights allows the body to get into its fat burning zone quicker than doing weights after. It takes at least 45 minutes of cardio to get into that fat burning stage, anytime before that you are just burning carbohydrates. Weight training also builds more muscle which burns more calories during exercise and at rest.

  1. This was something that truly surprised me when I lost a bunch of weight 9 years ago. I had thought that weights were what you wouldn't want to do, because you would be "bulking up". However, I was pleasantly surprised when I started adding weights to my workouts. They definitely made a difference!

  2. Amen to weights! I think a lot of females especially are afraid of doing weights in fear that they will become muscular but im learning that takes a lot of work!

  3. It's crazy to me that so many women are afraid of getting too muscular from strength training with weights. How many grotesquely muscular women do you personally know?? Not many, right? Me neither. That's because it's really really really hard for women to get to the point of too much muscle. I wish more women knew this.

  4. I haven't started doing cardio after weights yet. My trainer kits my butt and I'm lucky to be able to drive home some days! :o)

I found you from the Fitness Friday blog hop.
